Brazil: Chicken prices fall due to low domestic demand

The average price of whole chilled chicken fell 2.6% from December 23 to January 24 at the Greater Sao Paulo Wholesale Market to close at BRL7.03/kg in the first month of the year. The cost of frozen food decreased by 2.5% over the same period, to BRL 7.04/kg.

For live poultry, the average price in the state of São Paulo remained stable in January (-0.2%) to close at BRL 5.11/kg.

Over 19 working days in January, the volume of chicken MEAT exports amounted to 17.5 thousand tons, which is 19.6% less than in December 2023.
