Bolivia has made progress in exporting beef and poultry to Egypt after receiving halal certification.

"A new market for our high-quality Bolivian beef. This is significant; in the future, it will mean an influx of foreign currency, essential for the development and stability of our country." This is the message Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz posted on his social media, announcing the opening of the Egyptian market to beef and poultry from the South American country.

"Our ambitions extend beyond a single product. Through Egypt , we are building strategic relationships that will allow us to establish ties with more than 22 countries in Africa and the Arab world. These are diverse markets that require a variety of products, which is in line with Bolivia's policy of openness to the world," he added.

The announcement comes as the country moves closer to receiving halal certification following inspections of Bolivian slaughterhouses by Egyptian authorities, the Ministry of Rural Development and Land (MDRyT) said.

Following the arrival of an inspection mission from Egypt, the refrigerators received a positive assessment during the inspection and were found to comply with the sanitary requirements of this Muslim country.

“This approval allows us to move on to the next stage – religious inspection, which is necessary to obtain the Halal label, which guarantees that the slaughter process complies with Islamic principles,” MDRyT emphasized.
