
The May holidays are over, which many Russians traditionally associate with trips to nature and, of course, to barbecues. Auchan Retail RUSSIA summed up the results of MEAT sales in chain stores and found out what kind of meat and what barbecue was the most popular among buyers during this period.
In the category of lumpy meat, poultry meat has traditionally become the leader in sales - over the May holidays, Auchan customers ate more than 750 tons of it. The second most popular was pork - the volume of sales of this meat in kg increased by 10% compared to the same period last year. Rarely took rabbit and lamb. As for ready-made kebabs, the preferences in this segment remain unchanged: pork kebabs are still in the greatest demand - Auchan customers ate more than 100 tons in May. Also this year, they began to buy beef kebab more often - the demand for it increased by 12% compared to the same period last year (in kg).
In addition, in recent years, Russians have increasingly begun to give preference not to the classic shish kebab, but to grilled sausages, kupats, chevapchichas and other semi-finished products. Growth in the category of semi-finished products in Auchan stores was 26% compared to the May holidays of 2022 (in kg).
“We know how Russians love to cook barbecue for the May holidays, so we tried to satisfy the most diverse needs of our customers. We also noted an increase in sales in the “meat” categories of our own brands,” commented Asya Balabay, commercial DIRECTOR of Auchan Retail Russia.
