BioPro will produce protein flour from fly larvae in the Belgorod region

The BioPro company, headquartered in Novosibirsk, is widely known in the livestock industry as a supplier of certified feed and feed additives to large agricultural enterprises, farms and private backyards. 

Innovative production in the Belgorod region with an investment volume of more than 833 million rubles cannot be called unprecedented. BioPro already has similar projects: the Linkorm Petfood pet food project worth 1.9 billion rubles and the Agro Academy for the production of protein from Black Lion fly larvae (Hermetia illucens).

The enterprise in the Belgorod region is the second phase of the Agroacademy project. it will be created with the involvement of external investors. The first line, which is scheduled to be launched in 2022, will annually produce 1-1.5 thousand tons of feed FLOUR. The annual capacity of the second will be 5,000 tons of products: protein flour, lipids and organic fertilizers. It is planned to be put into operation in 2023.

JSC "BioPro" has already received the status of a resident of the territory of advanced economic development (TOSED) "Gubkin", located between Voronezh, Belgorod and Kursk, 650 kilometers from Moscow.

It should be noted that the BioPro project is developing in line with the global trend of using edible insects and animal protein produced from them. According to UN forecasts, in two years this market will be valued at least at $1.2 billion. The European Commission has already approved the use of insect-derived protein in the food industry.
