The Belgorod region, despite the difficult situation, continues to strengthen the regional agro-industrial complex

On April 1, a working meeting between the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev and the Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov took place at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. The performance indicators of the region's agro-industrial complex, current seasonal work, state support for agricultural producers, the development of the reclamation complex and other issues were discussed.

Dmitry Patrushev noted that despite difficult conditions, the Belgorod region remains an important agricultural region, providing not only its needs for agricultural products and food, but also making a significant contribution to the country’s food security.

According to preliminary data, in 2023 the agricultural production index in the region exceeded the Russian average and amounted to 104.2%. Wages in agriculture continue to rise. This year, 2.8 billion rubles were allocated to support the agro-industrial complex of the Belgorod region, and the funds are delivered to farmers on time.

Spring work is underway in the region: fertilizing winter crops and sowing spring crops. The sown area of the Belgorod region in 2024 will be approximately 1.4 million hectares.

The region continues to remain one of the leading regions in Russia in meat and dairy farming, continuing to develop these areas. Production of finished products such as sugar , confectionery, cheeses , vegetable oils, sausages and butter was increased last year and is expected to remain stable.

The meeting also discussed improving the quality of life in rural areas. The state program for the development of rural areas of the region for 2024 provides for the allocation of almost 570 million rubles, including about half a billion for projects for the integrated development of rural agglomerations.
