Argentina signs deal to boost meat exports to China

The Argentine Institute for the Promotion of Beef (IPCVA) has entered into a strategic agreement with JD.com, the largest e-commerce platform in CHINA and the 47th largest company in the world. The aim of this collaboration is to deepen knowledge of Asian consumer habits, which will allow for significant progress in the marketing of Argentine MEAT for the Asian giant.

The agreement was formalized at the Sial exhibitionCHINA 2025, where IPCVA participated with 26 exporting companies in a large 1,150 m² pavilion dedicated to Argentine meat. During the event, IPCVA President Georges Breitschmitt and JD.COM Beef and Lamb General Manager Li Ranxin signed an agreement that promises to increase brand awareness of Argentine beef in China's most relevant digital environment .

The agreement is expected to stimulate a number of concrete actions, including digital marketing campaigns, tastings and food festivals. In addition, JD.COM has committed to improving the offer of Argentine beef on its platform, which will allow IPCVA to provide technical and promotional support to Argentine exporters.

One of the most important features of this agreement is the possibility of exchanging consumption data. This will help IPCVA and local manufacturers to better understand the behavior and preferences of Chinese consumers. “This agreement means that we are gaining a privileged position in Chinese e-commerce with a professional strategy focused on brand and value creation,” Breitschmitt emphasized after the signing.

In 2024 , Argentina's meat exports to China reached US $3.672 billion  , strengthening the country's position as the sixth-largest EXPORT complex in the country. Given that 74% of total beef exports go to China, the IPCVA highlights the importance of this market for the industry. In this regard, Li Ranxin emphasized that "Argentine beef has an excellent reputation in the Chinese market, and we see huge growth potential in quality-sensitive segments."

The signing of the agreement is part of IPCVA's ongoing efforts to promote Argentine beef in China, a country that, in a difficult global environment, represents an irresistible opportunity for Argentine exports seeking to adapt to consumer demands and strengthen their presence.
