The beef market is showing signs of stability and strength, but the poultry and pork sectors have expressed growing concern about the persistent rise in imports. Organizations representing these producers warn that imports from abroad could upset the delicate balance of the local market and threaten domestic production.
Poultry market
The Center for Poultry Processing Companies (CEPA) has expressed concern about the growth of chicken meat imports . At the beginning of last year, only 500 tons were imported per month, but since the beginning of 2025 , this volume has tripled, and further growth is possible, Aire Digital reports.
For this reason, the sector is calling for import quotas to be introduced to avoid downward pressure on domestic poultry prices .
Pork market
Pork imports from January to April approached 20,000 tonnes, three times the volume of foreign imports for the same period in 2024. Industry leaders warn that this trend threatens the local industry, which has so far shown annual supply growth of 2-3%.
