General analysis
As of 2020, the total volume of exports of pork, offal, bacon and commercial pigs for slaughter (in terms of slaughter weight), according to AB-Center calculations based on official statistics from the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, amounted to 204.8 thousand tons, which is 100, 0% (by 102.4 thousand tons) more than in 2019. Over five years, the volumes increased by 900.0% (by 184.3 thousand tons).
Including the share of pork in 2020 accounted for 63.3% (129.6 thousand tons) of total exports from the Russian Federation, pork offal - 30.6% (62.7 thousand tons), pork fat - 4, 2% (8.6 thousand tons), commercial pigs - 1.9% (4.0 thousand tons).
The structure of total exports of pork, offal, bacon and commercial pigs, broken down by goods with a deeper level of detail, according to AB-Center, was as follows: carcasses and half carcasses - 19.1% (39.1 thousand tons) in the total volume exports, hams and cuts from them, non-boned - 1.7% (3.5 thousand tons), brisket (streaks) and cuts from them - 20.3% (41.6 thousand tons), cutting edge - 0, 05% (0.1 thousand tons), loins and cuts from them, not deboned - 0.2% (0.5 thousand tons), shoulder blades and cuts from them, not deboned - 1.2% (2.4 thousand tons) tons), deboned MEAT (not including trimming) - 12.9% (26.5 thousand tons), trimming - 2.5% (5.1 thousand tons), other pork - 5.3% (10.8 thousand tons), pork liver - 0.7% (1.4 thousand tons), other by-products - 29.9% (61.3 thousand tons), bacon - 4.2% (8.6 thousand tons ), commercial pigs in terms of slaughter weight - 1.9% (4.0 thousand tons).
Pork EXPORT
Pork exports (TN VED code 0203) from RUSSIA in 2020 amounted to 129.6 thousand tons, which, according to AB-Center, is 143.4% (76.3 thousand tons) more than a year earlier. In 2015 (five years ago) supplies amounted to only 5.2 thousand tons, in 2010 (10 years ago) - 0.1 thousand tons.
In January 2021, the volume of exports was at the level of 9.5 thousand tons, which is 23.6% (1.8 thousand tons) more than in January 2020.
Pork export by cuts
The main volume of pork exports from the Russian Federation falls on brisket (strike) and cuts from them - 32.1% of the total in 2020. Carcasses and half carcasses also account for a significant share - 30.2%, and deboned meat (not including trimming) - 20.4%.
The proportion of trimming is significantly lower - 3.9%, ham on the bone - 2.7%, shoulder cut on the bone - 1.8%, loin - 0.4%, front edge - 0.1%. The share of other pork amounted to 8.3% of the total pork exports.
Export of pork from Russia by countries of destination
The key destinations for pork exports from Russia in 2020 were Vietnam (37.6% of all supplies, 48.76 thousand tons), Ukraine (26.2%, 33.96 thousand tons) and Belarus (16.6%, 21 .50 thousand tons). The TOP-10 countries-buyers of Russian pork in 2020 also included: Armenia (6.0%, 7.74 thousand tons), Hong Kong (5.1%, 6.60 thousand tons), Kazakhstan (3.3 %, 4.30 thousand tons), Mongolia (2.3%, 3.00 thousand tons), Japan (1.0%, 1.35 thousand tons), Kyrgyzstan (0.5%, 0.63 thousand tons), CHINA (0.4%, 0.55 thousand tons).
Cumulative deliveries to other countries amounted to 1.17 thousand tons (0.9% of the total volume).
Export of pork by-products
The volume of exports of pork offal from Russia in 2020 amounted to 62.7 thousand tons, which, according to AB-Center, is 44.6% (19.3 thousand tons) more than in 2019. In 2015, exports amounted to 14.6 thousand tons, in 2010 - 0.1 thousand tons.
In January 2021, the volume of exports was at 4.1 thousand tons, which is 25.1% (0.8 thousand tons) more than in January 2020.
Export of pork by-products from Russia by countries of destination
The key export destinations for pork offal from Russia in 2020 were Hong Kong (65.5% of all deliveries, 41.02 thousand tons) and Vietnam (23.2%, 14.56 thousand tons). The TOP-10 countries-buyers of Russian pork offal in 2020 also included Ukraine (7.5%, 4.69 thousand tons), Belarus (1.0%, 0.61 thousand tons), Congo (0.7 %, 0.43 thousand tons), Armenia (0.6%, 0.36 thousand tons), Haiti (0.4%, 0.24 thousand tons), Mongolia (0.4%, 0.23 thousand tons), Equatorial Guinea (0.3%, 0.19 thousand tons), Kazakhstan (0.3%, 0.17 thousand tons).
Cumulative deliveries to other countries amounted to 0.16 thousand tons (0.3% of the total volume).
Export of pork fat
The export of pork fat from Russia in 2020 amounted to 8.6 thousand tons. Over the year, deliveries, according to AB-Center, increased by 58.7% (by 3.2 thousand tons). In 2015, exports were at levels of 0.5 thousand tons, in 2010 - 0.1 thousand tons.
In January 2021, the volume of exports amounted to 0.3 thousand tons, which is 46.8% (0.3 thousand tons) less than in January 2020.
Export of pork fat from Russia by countries of destination
In 2020, the main export destinations for Russian pork fat were Belarus (56.4% in total supplies, 4.85 thousand tons) and Ukraine (26.2%, 2.25 thousand tons).
Among other countries, we should highlight such as Mongolia (5.4%, 0.46 thousand tons), Kazakhstan (3.9%, 0.34 thousand tons), Azerbaijan (3.2%, 0.28 thousand tons). tons), Vietnam (1.9%, 0.16 thousand tons), Armenia (1.7%, 0.14 thousand tons), Kyrgyzstan (1.3%, 0.11 thousand tons). Cumulative deliveries to other countries amounted to 0.004 thousand tons (0.04% of the total volume).
Export of commodity pigs
The volume of export of marketable pigs for slaughter (in terms of slaughter weight) from Russia in 2020 amounted to 4.0 thousand tons (in live weight - 5.4 thousand tons), which is a record figure, since in previous years, marketable pigs from the Russian Federation in any significant volumes were not exported.
Georgia was the key and practically the only export destination for commercial pigs from Russia in 2020.
