Agricultural holding MHP in the second quarter of 2021 increased the average selling price of chicken by 35% compared to the second quarter of last year - $ 1.67 / kg. At the same time, in Ukraine, it increased by 38% in DOLLAR terms, to $1.63/kg (in hryvnia, by 42%, to UAH 45.0/kg), while exports grew by a quarter, to $1.69/kg. .
In addition, the average cost of chicken MEAT in Ukraine for EXPORT in the first half of the year also increased by 26% compared to the same period in 2020 - up to $1.56/kg. Interfax-Ukraine.
In total, in the first half of 2021, the company sold 336.17 thousand tons of chicken meat, which is 2% more than in the same period in 2020.
The company clarifies that the growth was due to an increase in export sales by 12% - up to 191.32 thousand tons, while sales in the domestic market decreased by 8% - up to 144.86 thousand tons.
In addition, the chicken producer sold 181.8 thousand tons of chicken meat in the second quarter of 2021, which is 6% more than in April-June 2020. The growth was due to an increase in export sales by 23% - up to 109.1 thousand tons, while sales in the domestic market decreased by 12% - up to 72.75 thousand tons.
According to the agricultural holding, the total volume of chicken production in the second quarter of 2021 increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2020 - up to 190.91 thousand tons, in total for the first half of 2021 this indicator remained at the level of 357.53 thousand tons (in January-June 2020 - 359.93 thousand tons).
“In order to mitigate the adverse impact (temporary restrictions on exports to the EU due to bird flu - ed.) on the activities and profitability of MHP, the company's management decided to increase the production of small carcasses and exports to the Middle East market (the sample increased to 47% in the second quarter of 2021 against 37% in April-June 2020)," the statement of the agricultural holding explains.
At the same time, MHP specified that its export sales in the second quarter of this year grew mainly due to the growth of exports to the Middle East and North Africa region, diversification of the geography of deliveries, as well as optimization of the product range. During this period, sales of frozen chicken and whole chicken sank the most in Ukraine.
MHP is the largest chicken producer in Ukraine. It is also engaged in the production of cereals, sunflower oil, meat processing products. On the European market, MHP supplies chilled half-carcasses of chickens, which are processed, including at its enterprises in the Netherlands and Slovakia. In February 2019, MHP completed the acquisition of the Slovenian company Perutnina Ptuj.
The agricultural holding made a net loss of $133 million in 2020 against a net profit of $215 million in 2019, mainly due to foreign exchange losses of $204 million due to the annual weakening of the hryvnia by 16%.
