ASF in Russia last week

Currently, the ASF virus is actively spreading in many countries of the world. Its main danger lies in the fact that a sick animal does not always show specific symptoms. And an infected pig may show signs of other diseases such as fever, dermatitis, salmonellosis, etc. It is also dangerous that the mortality rate is low in the initial stages.

Veterinarians recommend tracking the actual territorial distribution of ASF. At the moment, the following information can be found in the news.

In the Saratov region , quarantine has been in effect since August 27. Namely, in the Volsky and Voskresensky districts. Both diagnoses were confirmed in the veterinary laboratories as soon as possible. And the infected carcasses were immediately destroyed.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region , on the contrary, it was possible to defeat the outbreak of ASF. Personal farms were disinfected, and infected animals were bought and liquidated.

A large number of ASF foci were also found in the Amur Region . Namely, in the villages of the Belogorsk district, Svobodensky and Seryshevsky districts. Owners of affected animals will be paid monetary compensation - 156 rubles per kilogram

In the village of Letoshniki , Bryansk region , an outbreak of African swine fever was also identified. Experts have already begun to carry out measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Vladimir region has already discovered the eighth outbreak of ASF this year. In an 8-kilometer radius around the animal death zone, the governor of the region introduced quarantine.

In the Volgograd region , the carcasses of three dead pigs were found on the highway. Veterinarians determined the cause of death - the ASF virus. However, experts say that already dead animals were brought from another place.

At the moment, this is all the information available, but scientists from the United States say that soon ASF will completely cease to threaten the pig population. At the moment, they are testing a vaccine, which is already showing very good results. The vaccinated animals showed a specific antibody response upon infection, and remained completely healthy during further observation.
