In the Vileika district, a state traffic inspector used a weapon to detain a drunk motorist

Yesterday, April 24, at about eight in the evening, the police received a signal that in the Vileyka district a drunk man got behind the wheel of a Toyota car. The traffic police crew of the local police department immediately departed in the indicated direction. Having overtaken the car, the state traffic inspector signaled to the driver to stop. However, the motorist, having damaged his service car, continued driving. The pursuit began.

The offender did not obey the repeated legal demands of the police, while swerving from side to side, creating a threat to the safety of other road users. A decision was made to use service weapons. The inspector fired two warning shots into the air and several aimed shots, damaging the wheel.

The driver was detained. He turned out to be a 37-year-old local resident, in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication . A medical examination showed the presence of almost 2 ppm of alcohol in the violator’s blood. Traffic police officers also found out that the man does not have a driver’s license, did not even receive one, but had previously been brought to administrative responsibility for drunk driving.

Nine reports were drawn up against the detainee, and he was placed in a temporary detention center. For driving a car while intoxicated, he faces a fine of 200 basic units (Br8 thousand).
