March 10, Minsk. From March 4 to March 9, within the framework of the complex of preventive measures "There is no place for a drunk on the road!" The state traffic inspectorate has strengthened control over drunk drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. In addition, in order to ensure road safety throughout the country, traffic police inspectors carried out raids and special "Filter" events aimed at curbing other gross violations of traffic rules. BelTA was informed about this by the Main Directorate of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"During 6 days of preventive measures, traffic police officers revealed more than 25,000 traffic violations. 1,209 drivers were driving without the right to drive, 347 were detained in a state of intoxication. 12 people were held liable for transferring control of a vehicle to a drunk, 15 - for drinking alcohol after giving a signal to stop or an accident before passing the examination. 4 drivers were detained for repeated drunk driving during the year," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

At the same time, more than 5.2 thousand pedestrians and cyclists violated the rules of the road, of which 965 were intoxicated . 1937 drivers were fined for violating the rules for passing pedestrian crossings, 220 for violating the rules of overtaking. More than 3,000 drivers were not wearing seat belts, more than 700 violated the rules for transporting underage passengers.

The traffic police reminded that last year responsibility was differentiated for those who allow themselves to drive while intoxicated. In case of intoxication from 0.3 to 0.8 ppm inclusive, the driver faces a fine of 100 basic units with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years.

In case of intoxication over 0.8 ppm, as well as in case of refusal to pass the examination or drinking alcohol after giving a signal to stop or after an accident before passing the examination, the fine will already be 200 basic units with deprivation of the right to drive for 5 years.

Transferring control of a vehicle to a drunk driver is punishable by a fine of 50 to 100 basic units with deprivation of the right to drive for 3 years.

The State Traffic Inspectorate calls on all road users to be conscientious, disciplined and obligatory to comply with the rules of the road.
