The Minsk City Executive Committee's Main Directorate of Internal Affairs explained how public safety will be ensured on May 9.

May 9 , MINSK . All venues for the May 9 holiday events will be monitored by law enforcement, inspected by bomb disposal teams, and equipped with checkpoints, BelTA reports.

"Citizens will be able to enter the holiday events only after undergoing a personal search and inspection of their belongings. An information board will be installed at each checkpoint, listing prohibited items and substances. Separate checkpoints are traditionally designated for certain categories of individuals—veterans, disabled persons, pregnant women, and parents with small children," said Sergei Gorokhov, HEAD of the Law Enforcement and Prevention Department of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

According to him, citizens carrying prohibited items and substances will not be allowed into the holiday events. "Including alcoholic beverages, low-alcohol beverages, beer , narcotics, psychotropic substances and their analogues, toxic, intoxicating substances, bladed weapons, firearms, gas or other weapons, weapon parts or components, explosives, ammunition, specially manufactured or adapted items, the use of which may pose a threat to human life and HEALTH, or cause harm to individuals and organizations, or interfere with the holding of a mass event. Also, citizens who are in possession of imitation or replica bladed weapons, firearms, gas or other weapons, explosives, unregistered flags, pennants, emblems, posters, banners, the content of which is aimed at causing harm to public order, the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, or is also associated with extremist activity, will not be admitted," the head of the department noted. Storage lockers are provided for the temporary storage of items that are prohibited from entry.

For convenienceLaw enforcement officials recommend arriving at festive events in advance. Citizens who are in a state ofThose intoxicated by ALCOHOL or drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs will also not be allowed to attend the events. "Please note that citizens on scooters, bicycles, or other personal mobility devices will also not be allowed to attend the events. Please be advised in advance: access with pets will be restricted," emphasized Sergei Gorokhov.

Citizens will be admitted to the flower-laying ceremony at Victory Square through 14 checkpoints. Exit from the Ploshchad Pobedy metro station will be restricted to Masherov Avenue, and access to the Eternal Flame memorial site will be restricted starting at 11:30 AM.

"On this day, as well as over the long weekend, the number of patrols will be increased on city streets and in parks," the head of the department emphasized. "The police are prepared to ensure the safety of citizens during the Victory Day celebrations and the long weekend. We kindly ask all residents and visitors to the capital to be understanding of the enhanced security measures taken by the police, to adhere to the established procedures for holding public events, and to avoid violating current laws. If you discover unattended objects, suspicious individuals, or abandoned belongings, please immediately notify law enforcement."
