Drunk driver hits motorcyclist in Grodno, criminal case sent to court

February 17, Grodno. The Grodno Region Prosecutor's Office sent a criminal case to the Oktyabrsky District COURT of Grodno against a 61-year-old man who is charged with violating traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle in a state of intoxication.ALCOHOL intoxication , which resulted in the infliction of serious bodily harm through negligence. This was reported to BELTA by the information service of the Grodno Region Prosecutor's Office.

According to the case materials, the accused, in a state of alcohol intoxication, not having the right to drive a vehicle, in August 2024 in the evening at the intersection of Yuzhnaya Street in Grodno, when turning left, did not give way to an oncoming motorcycle moving straight. As a result of the traffic accident, the 37-year-old motorcycle driver suffered serious bodily harm.

After examining the criminal case, the Grodno Region Prosecutor's Office came to the conclusion that the charge was justified, the evidence collected was sufficient, and the circumstances of the crime were comprehensively investigated. They agreed with the classification of the act under Part 4 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus . The criminal case was being handled by the Investigative Committee of the Grodno Region.

When sending the criminal case to court, the prosecutor left the previously applied preventive measure in the form of detention unchanged.
