In Glusk, a drunk man drove into a crowd in a car, he was sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony

March 24, MINSK. A resident of Glusk received 15 years in prison for entering the crowd by car. 13 people were injured in the accident. Yulia Goncharova, official representative of the Investigative Committee, told Radio Minsk about this, BelTA informs.

On the night of April 4, 2021, in Glusk, a 34-year-old local resident, while intoxicated , got behind the wheel of a friend's Audi A6 car. The car was parked in the parking lot next to the cafe. “Having started the engine of a foreign car, without turning on the light, he drove onto the roadway. And then, after driving a few meters, purposefully, without slowing down, he drove onto a footpath where several young people were standing,” the official representative of the UK told the details. "The driver drove over the group and fled the scene. Six people were injured. Another seven who were near the cafe that night miraculously escaped serious injury."

The night before, April 3, in Bobruisk, two friends met after work and decided to have a drink. One of them offered his garage as a place: he had recently bought an Audi A6 and wanted to show off his purchase. Having consumed ALCOHOL, they decided to go to Glusk for a disco.

On the motorway Bobruisk - Glusk, while overtaking, an Audi hit another car. Not paying attention to a minor accident, the men continued on their way and, having met acquaintances in Glusk, continued to rest. “One of the friends, heated up by alcohol, entered into a verbal skirmish with a visitor to the cafe. To sort it out, he suggested that he go out into the street. However, in the dark hall of the cafe he did not even make out the face of the offender and, leaving the institution, hit the first comer who appeared on his way. Later, he was recognized as a victim," said Yulia Goncharova.

During the investigation, it was established that the second man, having gone out into the street, did not get into a fight, but watched everything from the side. Subsequently, he explained that he and a friend were beaten by a crowd of young people near a cafe, after which it was decided to deal with the offenders.

Installed surveillance cameras helped to create a picture of what happened. The recordings recorded that the men were standing near the institution, talking to each other. Then we went to the car, drove out of the parking lot and purposefully, without turning on the headlights, drove to the cafes standing near.

During the investigation, 13 victims were identified, who received injuries from less serious to light, which did not pose a threat to life.

The driver repeatedly changed his testimony, saying that the crowd was chasing them, and then that he simply mixed up the pedals. Investigators questioned the accused, victims and witnesses. Expert opinions are attached to the materials of the case.

The actions of the driver, who was driving a foreign car, are qualified under the article "Attempt to kill two or more persons, committed in a generally dangerous way out of hooligan motives." According to the verdict of the COURT, the defendant received 15 years in prison with a sentence to be served in a penal colony.

The actions of his friend are qualified under the article "Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, committed out of hooligan motives." Sentence - 5 years in prison with serving a sentence in a penal colony.

The verdict entered into force and remained unchanged.
