The incident took place on the evening of August 12. According to investigators, a 37-year-old man came home in a state of intoxication and made a scandal with his cohabitant. The dog that was in the house began to bark, protecting the woman from the attacks of her roommate. The man took a knife from the kitchen and hit the dog in the croup area. Veterinarians tried to save the animal, but the dog died due to massive blood loss.An inspection of the scene was carried out, a forensic veterinary examination was appointed. It was established that earlier the defendant was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for committing offenses while intoxicated, he does not work anywhere.
The Brest inter-district department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 339-1 (cruel treatment of an animal that resulted in its death) of the Criminal Code. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of community service, a fine, correctional labor for up to one year, or arrest.
