Man sentenced in Brest region for killing his mother

November 26, Minsk. The prosecutor's office of the Ivanovsky district supported in court the state prosecution in a criminal case against a man who was charged with the murder of his mother. This was reported to BelTA in the information service of the prosecutor's office of the Brest region.

"According to the materials of the case, a drunken man, on the basis of a sudden personal hostile relationship with the victim, took her life by strangulation," the information service noted.

The accused and his mother abused alcohol for a long time. The woman was treated several times in a medical-labor dispensary. The defendant himself was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for offenses committed while intoxicated .

Taking into account the evidence presented by the public prosecutor, the Ivanovsky District Court delivered a guilty verdict. On the basis of part 1 of article 139 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 10 years with serving in a correctional colony under a reinforced regime.

On the basis of part 1 of article 107 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the accused was subjected to compulsory treatment for alcoholism.

The verdict has not entered into force, it can be appealed and protested on appeal.
