Belarus is improving the procedure for working with persons under preventive supervision

December 22, MINSK . Belarus is improving the procedure for organizing work with individuals who are under preventive supervision. This is envisaged by the draft law "On Amending the Codes on Criminal Liability Issues", which was approved by senators today, a BELTA correspondent reports.

The draft law amends the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Criminal Executive Code.

"It is proposed to establish in the Criminal Code an additional requirement for the employment of persons who are subject to preventive supervision. In order to implement this norm, the Criminal Executive Code provides for a mechanism for assisting in the employment of this category of citizens," noted the Minister of Internal Affairs IvanKubrakov , presenting the bill .

He explained that the draft law obliges persons who are subject to preventive supervision to work under an employment contract or to carry out other types of activities stipulated by the legislation on employment of the population.

At the same time, a category of persons is determined to whom this obligation does not apply. This concerns those who have reached the generally established retirement age, pregnant women, and disabled persons of the first and second groups.

The draft law also provides for the possibility of applying compulsory security measures and treatment to persons suffering from pedophilia and convicted of committing sexual crimes against minors. The COURT is empowered to order compulsory security measures and treatment for persons in this category. The proposed version of Article 107 of the Criminal Code also provides for the possibility of this category undergoing treatment both at the place of serving the sentence and at the place of residence if it is necessary to continue such treatment after release from prison. It is proposed that compulsory treatment be terminated on the basis of the conclusion of the medical advisory commission of the institution where these persons are undergoing treatment. The decision on changing or terminating the application of compulsory security measures and treatment is within the competence of the courts.

In order to prevent recurrence of sexual crimes against minors, it is envisaged to establish preventive supervision of persons released from correctional institutions and suffering from pedophilia.
