In Barani, two victims of a fire in a high-rise building were taken to hospital

September 12, Vitebsk. In Barani, Orsha district, a fire broke out in an apartment in a multi-storey building ; emergency workers rescued two people and evacuated seven. A BELTA correspondent was informed about this by the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department.

Rescuers were informed about the fire by eyewitnesses. The call to the Ministry of Emergency Situations was received on September 12 at 1.27. The incident happened in a high-rise building on Korban Street. When rescuers arrived at the scene, there was no external visible fire. At the entrance, where the smell of smoke was felt, the firefighters were met by a man and led to the burning apartment.

Rescuers opened the door, heard a woman's screams and evacuated the victim to fresh air. Then, during reconnaissance, they found another unconscious woman in the next room. She was taken out of the apartment and was given artificial ventilation until the ambulance arrived. Doctors diagnosed poisoning from combustion products and took her to the hospital.

At the same time, other rescuers used a ladder to enter the burning apartment through the window. They found an unconscious man in the kitchen and took him out into the fresh air. He was also taken to the hospital with combustion poisoning and burns on 15% of his body.

Emergency Situations Ministry workers said that the owner of the apartment, born in 1987, and a friend, born in 1968, who was staying with him, were hospitalized. Both are unemployed and, according to neighbors, abuse ALCOHOL and smoke.

Also, due to heavy smoke, rescuers evacuated, using masks, six more people, including two children, from apartments located nearby and on the floor above.

Rescuers extinguished the fire at 1.49. As a result of the incident, property in one of the rooms in the apartment was damaged, the ceiling and walls were smoked.

The cause of the fire is being established, and the possibility of careless handling of fire while smoking is being considered.
