Consumer goods, bicycles, and caviar: which products are Belarus considering introducing labeling for?

June 12, MINSK . Deputy Minister of Taxes and Duties Vladimir Mukvich explained during a briefing which goods Belarus plans to introduce identification marking on, BelTA reports.

Starting October 1, 2025, soft drinks, juices, mobile phones, and laptops will be subject to identification marking. " Work is currently underway to prepare a number of other changes. Thus, we plan to expand the list of goods subject to identification marking. This is primarily"Sturgeon and salmon caviar , and canned fish in tins. We expect this innovation to take effect on October 1 of this year, but it's still in the planning stages," said Vladimir Mukvich.

Starting April 1, 2026, it will be proposed to introduce identification markings for certain light industry products. "Today, goods sometimes enter our market that don't undergo any technical inspections; they are imported without paying value-added tax and customs duties. This is a very sensitive issue, especially for those citizens who work in light industry enterprises. The main thing is to create a level playing field in the market; only then can we expect a balance between the interests of the state and business. Furthermore, starting on the same date, we plan to introduce markings for bicycles, laundry detergents, motor oils and special automotive fluids, perfumes and cosmetics, household chemicals, liquids for electronic smoking systems, non-tobacco nicotine-containing products, electronic smoking systems, and tobacco consumption systems. Some of these products are currently marked with unified control marks, but will be transitioned to identification devices," the deputy minister noted.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Taxes and Duties will propose introducing labeling for vegetable oils, pet food, and soap.
