Spouses poisoned themselves with counterfeit alcohol in the Logoisk district: the investigation identified the sellers

April 21, Minsk. The investigation established the sellers of counterfeit alcohol, from which the spouses died in the Logoisk district. This was announced to BelTA by the official representative of the USC in the Minsk region Elena Krupenina.

"The investigation put an end to the circumstances of the death of a married couple in the urban village of Pleschenitsy. As previously reported, on October 9 last year, after drinking alcohol, a 53-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman felt unwell. Despite the efforts of doctors, on October 10, both died in the hospital" , - told in USC.

During the inspection of the scene at the place of residence of the spouses, a canister with an alcohol-containing liquid was seized, the main component of which is methyl alcohol. According to the conclusions of forensic medical examinations, both died from poisoning with this alcohol.

As a result of a complex of investigative actions and operational search activities, people involved in the death of the spouses were identified. As law enforcement officers found out, for several years a 58-year-old local resident took an alcohol-containing liquid for sale from a friend, a 33-year-old truck driver. He, in turn, acquired it in Russia, in the area of ​​​​the industrial zone of St. Petersburg. In the Logoisk district, alcohol (vodka, cognac) was sold at Br25 in unmarked five-liter canisters. On the eve of the incident, one of these canisters was acquired by the deceased.

Upon learning of what had happened, the merchants decided to cover their tracks. The local distributor immediately called the trucker to return the remaining products. In the evening, he took the canisters and threw them in the forest. Despite the attempts of the defendants to hide the evidence, the well-coordinated work of experienced investigators of the Investigation Department of the USC in the Minsk region made it possible to establish a causal relationship between what happened and the actions of the men. Their actions are qualified under part 2 of article 144 (infliction of death by negligence on two persons) of the Criminal Code. The defendants and witnesses were interrogated, examinations were carried out, testimonies were checked on the spot and face-to-face confrontations were carried out. Local residents were also identified, who told how they repeatedly purchased alcohol in canisters from a 58-year-old man.

The criminal investigation has been completed. The materials were handed over to the prosecutor to be sent to court, which the perpetrators are waiting for while in custody.
