New details have become known in the case of the rape and murder of a woman in a Minsk hostel

December 8, Minsk . The Investigative Department of the Criminal Investigation Department for the city of Minsk established the circumstances of the brutal murder of a 28-year-old girl in one of the hostels of the capital. Details of the investigation of the criminal case with BELTA were shared in the information and public relations group of the USC for the city of Minsk.

The body of the murderedlaw enforcement officers found it in a nearby living room. Numerous abrasions and bruises indicated that the death was criminal in nature. On suspicion of committing murder, police officers detained a 32-year-old man who rented a room in the same hostel.

Investigators found that on the morning of May 24, a man who had a key to one of the rooms entered it for the purpose of theft. However, the attempt was unsuccessful, and he knocked on the door of the next room, which was opened by a 28-year-old girl. The criminal referred to the need to check the fire detector and unhinderedly entered the room, where he began to persuade the neighbor to be intimate. Having received a refusal, he became angry, threw the victim to the floor, began to choke and strike multiple blows to the body. The man knew where the key to the next room was. He made sure there were no residents and dragged the victim there, where he raped and strangled the girl. Before leaving, the attacker removed gold jewelry and items of clothing from the deceased, and tried to hide the body. After committing crimes in cold blood, he went to work and behaved as usual, without arousing the suspicion of his colleagues.

It was established that the person involved has a pathological craving for gambling, which is why he had financial difficulties. That day, he entered someone else's home with the goal of stealing property and selling it so he could play again. According to the expert opinion, the accused has an ALCOHOL addiction , and on the eve of the incident he drank alcohol . The offender has no previous convictions and is married.

As the Investigative Committee clarified, throughout the investigation the Minsk resident gave contradictory testimony and in every possible way prevented the establishment of the true circumstances of the incident, trying to minimize responsibility and present himself in a more favorable light. Investigators, in collaboration with police officers and experts, carried out painstaking work to recreate the circumstances of the crimes and collect evidence. Inspections of the crime scene and interrogations of witnesses took place. The findings of examinations carried out by SSSE specialists were attached to the case materials.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of law enforcement officers, the man’s involvement in the crimes was proven. The defendant has been charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus: paragraphs 6, 7, part 2 of article 139 (murder committed with extreme cruelty, involving rape and violent acts of a sexual nature), part 1 of article 166 (rape), Part 1 of Article 167 (violent acts of a sexual nature committed against the will of the victim), Part 1 of Article 202 (illegal invasion of a home against the will of residents), Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 205 (attempted for theft committed with penetration into a home), Part 2 of Article 205 (theft committed repeatedly). A preventive measure in the form of detention was applied to the accused.
