Minsk . A resident of Soligorsk was brought to criminal responsibility for trying to “protect” her lawless husband from a fine by bribing traffic police inspectors. A reckless driver who already had an administrative penalty for speeding tried to resolve the issue in a similar way. BELTA was informed about this by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.
While on duty in the Soligorsk district in the village of Krasnaya Sloboda, traffic police officers stopped a Peugeot car to check documents. The driver was a man without a driver's license. As
it turned out, he had previously been deprived of the right to drive vehicles for driving while
alcohol intoxication .
During the administrative process in the building of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Soligorsk District Department of Internal Affairs, his wife allegedly came to help the detainee. The woman offered the inspectors a
bribe of $200 and Br400 for a favorable resolution of the issue without drawing up a protocol. As a result, the driver was brought to administrative responsibility under Part 2 of Art. 18.14 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for driving without a license, and his wife - to criminal liability for giving a bribe.
In addition, in the Soligorsk district, local traffic police officers stopped a Volkswagen Polo car, the driver of which exceeded the speed limit by 44 km/h. When checking documents, inspectors found that the man had already been brought to administrative responsibility for a similar offense within a year.
A Minsk resident offered the police
money for not bringing him to justice. The offender did not respond to repeated warnings that such an act was criminally punishable: he put Br300 in one of the niches of the official car.
Traffic police officers called an investigative team. The motorist was detained. A criminal case has been opened for giving a bribe.
