Agreement on navigational seals will increase the transit attractiveness of the EAEU

December 10, Moscow. The implementation of the agreement on navigational seals will increase the transit attractiveness of the Eurasian Economic Union. This was announced at a briefing following the today's meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, EEC official representative Iya Malkina, BelTA has learned.

At a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the leaders of the states of the Eurasian Economic Union signed an agreement on the use of navigation seals in the EAEU to track shipments.

"The agreement on the use of navigation seals in the Union, initiated by Russia, provides for the tracking of goods transported as part of customs transit and a number of goods in mutual trade: sanctioned goods, alcohol and tobacco," said Iya Malkina. According to her, the document defines the cases and procedure for the use of navigation seals, tracking objects, modes of transport, tracking participants and the basics of information exchange. It also provides for the competence of the EEC to determine the list of goods for which tracking will not be applied: for example, live animals, goods transported in bulk, and a number of others.

"The agreement will achieve the following goals: to minimize control measures at the internal borders of the union and increase the transit attractiveness of the EAEU states, to ensure the traceability of goods and their legal circulation on the territory of the union," Iya Malkina emphasized.

The full implementation of the agreement will require the adoption of 28 EEC acts that define the technical aspects of tracking goods. "The document provides for the phased introduction of tracking, which will ensure a soft adaptation of transportation participants and government agencies to new conditions," the EEC official said.

She added that tracking using navigation seals is one of the elements of the unified customs transit system in the EAEU. The second direction is the improvement of guarantee mechanisms for the transit of goods.

Iya Malkina said that work on the creation of a unified customs transit system in the EAEU had been going on for five years. "This is really a large-scale result of the activities of the Commission and the countries of the Union," she concluded.

The meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was held via videoconference. The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in it .
