The police are paying special attention to ensuring safety in places of mass recreation. In the summer, bodies of water are under increased control, the press service of the Interior Ministry told BELTA.
Preventive measures are being taken in close cooperation with representatives of
the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the OSVOD.
"Despite the measures taken, statistics show that citizens continue to be careless on the water. As a result, there are deaths, including minors," the press service of the ministry added.
Most drownings occur in spontaneous recreation areas where swimming is prohibited. Tragedies are usually preceded by drinking
ALCOHOL.
The Interior Ministry reminds that swimming is not safe in all bodies of water. Where
it is prohibited, there are corresponding prohibitory signs. In addition, recreation areas and beaches are public places where alcohol consumption is prohibited.
Law enforcement officers also ask not to leave children unattended even for a few seconds and constantly remind them of the rules of safe behavior near water.
