Investigators establish circumstances of road accident in Oshmyany district

July 27, MINSK. The Oshmyany regional department of the Investigative Committee is investigating a criminal case on a traffic accident, as a result of which a 35-year-old man was injured. BelTA was informed about this by Daria Chaplya, official representative of USC in the Grodno region.

According to the investigation, on July 22, at about 10.30 pm, a 33-year-old Volvo driver, in a state of intoxication , moving along the P95 highway near the village of Biyutishki, Oshmyany district, drove into oncoming traffic, where he collided with a Citroen car.

As a result of an accident, a 35-year-old resident of Smorgon suffered serious bodily injuries. He is currently in the hospital.

it was established that there were three children (13, 6 and 4 years old) and his 33-year-old acquaintance in the foreign car with the victim, who also received various injuries. They received medical attention, but they did not need hospitalization.

According to the results of a medical examination, the concentration of ALCOHOL in the exhaled air of the accused was 1.46 ppm.

The Volvo driver pleaded guilty. He explained that in the afternoon of the same day he drank at his place of residence, after which he got behind the wheel and went to his ex-wife and two minor children, but after looking at his mobile phone, he committed a traffic accident. Previously, the man was prosecuted for driving while intoxicated.

The investigator, with the involvement of a specialist from the UGKSE for the Grodno region, conducted an inspection of the scene, interrogated the accused, the victim and witnesses. A number of expert studies have been assigned.

The actions of a 33-year-old man are qualified under part 4 of article 317 (violation of the traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, negligently causing serious bodily injury) of the Criminal Code. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was applied to him.
