Investigators are working at the scene of a fatal accident in the Minsk region.

According to preliminary information, the 26-year-old driver of the Mercedes, while intoxicated,under the influence of alcohol , he was driving along the M2 highway towards Minsk National Airport. Around 5:20 a.m., near the village of Slobodshchina, he collided with a taxi traveling in the same direction. The impact damaged the car.The ŠKODA was thrown into a road barrier.

Four passengers in the taxi died in the accident: a 75-year-old woman, her 43-year-old daughter, and two granddaughters (ages 7 and 13). All were Russian citizens. The ŠKODA driver was hospitalized with injuries. The driver and passenger of the Mercedes were unharmed.

A criminal case has been opened against the 26-year-old Mercedes driver under Part 5 of Article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting through negligence in the death of two or more persons) of the Criminal Code. All circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
