March 19, Minsk. The Investigative Committee of Belarus has revealed the details of a fatal accident that occurred on March 18 on Pushkin Avenue, BelTA informs.

According to the investigation, on March 18, at about 11 pm, a 25-year-old Subaru driver, driving near house 33 on Pushkin Avenue, knocked down a 24-year-old girl who was crossing the road at a regulated pedestrian crossing at a traffic light. After that, he rammed the dividing fence, drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a Skoda car, and drove into a lighting tower. The driver fled, but was later detained by police officers.

The pedestrian died at the scene from her injuries. The Skoda passenger, a 55-year-old woman, was hospitalized. It was established that the young man did not have a driver's license, and at the time of the accident, the concentration of ethyl alcohol in his blood was more than 1 ppm.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated , resulting in the death of a person by negligence) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
