April 27, Brest. Since the beginning of the spawning ban on fishing, six criminal cases have been initiated in the Brest region, BelTA learned from the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee.
In the Berezovsky district, on April 17, employees of the inspectorate for the protection of flora and fauna detained a 30-year-old man who was fishing using a lifting fishing net. The illegal catch exceeded 170 species of river fish, and the damage caused to the environment was Br36,000.In addition to the fact that the villager was in a state of alcoholic intoxication , it turned out that the father of many children does not officially work anywhere. A criminal case was initiated against him under part 4 of article 281 (illegal fishing that caused damage on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code.
Two more poachers, 46 and 53 years old, were detained during the spawning ban in the Drogichinsky district. They also used a prohibited implement for fishing. With the help of three fixed nets, the men illegally caught 80 individuals of various fish. The damage caused to nature exceeded Br7 thousand. The actions of the defendants were qualified under part 2 of article 281 (illegal fishing that caused damage on a large scale) of the Criminal Code.
Currently, a complex of investigative and procedural actions is being carried out in criminal cases.
The Investigative Committee recalls the need to comply with the current legislation governing the rules of fishing. Thus, fishing of all types of fish in the reservoirs of the Brest region is prohibited from March 20 to May 18. Harm for spawning fish caught during this period is calculated in a triple amount.
