January 19, Minsk. A thief of construction equipment from the Gomel region was detained in the Brest region. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.

A 37-year-old resident of the Gomel region fell into the field of view of law enforcement officers. Last fall, he came to the Luninets district to earn money picking cranberries, and stayed with a local resident. On the way to work in the agricultural town of Bostyn, the man noticed an empty house, deciding to visit it one day.

An uninvited guest knocked out a window pane and entered someone else's home. From there, he took a whole set of construction equipment: a welding machine, a screwdriver, a neurogun, two foam cylinders, a spinning rod, parquet and a grinder. Moreover, the attacker tried to cover his tracks so that the loss would not be immediately discovered. He put the glass back into the window frame.

He kept things stolen in an empty house in the premises where he temporarily lived. Later, he sold some of them for scrap, some he sold or used himself.

The loss was discovered by the 25-year-old owner of the house, who comes to his native land once every two weeks, since he works in Russia. The man told the employees of the Luninets District Department of Internal Affairs that he noticed a broken window and the absence of some things. Law enforcement officers quickly figured out the attacker.

It turned out that the thief was involved in another similar episode - the victim was the 43-year-old owner of the house where he stopped. A 38-year-old acquaintance came to the attacker at the feast, with whom they drank alcoholic beverages together. Both took advantage of the absence of the owner of the house and dug up five metal rails. Then they asked a friend to take the rails to a metal collection point in a neighboring agricultural town. The friends used the money they received to buy alcohol.

The defendants were charged with theft.
