The Ivatsevichi District Prosecutor's Office sent a criminal case to court against a 37-year-old man for violating traffic rules while intoxicated.A driver under the influence of alcohol , which resulted in the negligent infliction of grievous bodily harm on a female cyclist. The driver is also charged with knowingly leaving the victim in danger, BELTA learned from the information service of the Brest Region Prosecutor's Office.

According to the case file, an intoxicated resident of the Ivatsevichi District got behind the wheel of a car on December 25, 2023. While driving near the 151st kilometer of the road connecting Baranovichi and Ivatsevichi, he was inattentive and struck a 55-year-old woman riding a bicycle on the right edge of the roadway. As a result of the accident, the victim suffered grievous bodily harm.

After hitting the cyclist,A drunk driver fled the scene of an accident, leaving a woman in a life-threatening condition.

After reviewing the case materials, the Ivatsevichi District Prosecutor's Office concluded that the charges were justified, the evidence collected was sufficient, and the circumstances of the crimes had been fully and objectively investigated. The driver's actions were classified under Part 4 of Article 317 and Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code.

The prosecutor upheld the driver's pretrial detention measure previously imposed on him.
