Drunk pedestrian hit by car wheels in Minsk region

January 20, MINSK. An accident involving a drunken pedestrian occurred in the Minsk region, BelTA learned from the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk regional executive committee.

According to preliminary information, at about 20.30 on the 42nd km of the highway H9531 Smolevichi - Samokhvalovichi - Negoreloye, a 36-year-old driver, a native of the Minsk region, was moving in a Fiat car from the village of Stayki in the direction of the urban village of Mikhanovichi. Near the village of Matsevichi, in his lane, a man knocked down a pedestrian, born in 1974, who was running across the roadway, a resident of the capital, who had a bicycle in his hands. it was not possible to avoid a collision with a pedestrian. After the accident, the pedestrian fled in an unknown direction. Later he was detained by the traffic police. As it turned out, the pedestrian received bodily injuries, with which he was taken to a HEALTH facility.

The Fiat has winter tires. The pedestrian was not marked with retroreflective elements at night, while moving along the carriageway was in a state of alcoholic intoxication .

The accident is under investigation.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds: when driving on the road at night and (or) with insufficient visibility, the bicycle must turn on a headlight (lantern) emitting white light in front, and a lamp emitting red light in the rear. The bicycle must have a working brake system, steering and sound signal, be equipped with a rear-view mirror, a white reflector in the front, a red reflector (reflectors) in the rear, and orange reflectors on each side.

In order to prevent accidents involving cyclists and ensure the safety of other road users, traffic police officers can apply a measure to ensure the administrative process in the form of seizure of property (a bicycle) until the decision to impose an administrative penalty in the form of a fine is executed.
