Tuberculosis service received 3.7 million euros of humanitarian aid in a year

March 23, MINSK. The TB Service received 3.7 million euros of humanitarian aid in a year, DIRECTOR of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pulmonology and Phthisiology Gennady Gurevich told reporters, BelTA has learned.

"We actively pursued international cooperation, including within the framework of the program with the Global Fund to Fight Tuberculosis, HIV and Malaria. We actively cooperated with the international public organization Doctors Without Borders. As a result, we received humanitarian aid in 2021 in the amount of 3 ".7 million euros. This is quite a lot. All these funds are aimed at improving the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis," said Gennady Gurevich.

The director of the RSPC also spoke about some other results of the work of the service in 2021. Last year was the first year of work under the new state program "Health of the people and demographic security." As for the subprogramme "Combating the Spread of Tuberculosis", all of its indicators for reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing the proportion of patients who successfully completed the course of treatment have been met.

A center for comorbid pathology was opened on the basis of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center. Today, there are concentrated patients from all over the country with concomitant pathology - tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, ALCOHOL addiction. According to Gennady Gurevich, it is very important that these most severe patients receive comprehensive treatment in one place. This contributes to the effectiveness of their treatment.
