April 3, Gomel. A drunk driver was detained near Gomel, BelTA learned from the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gomel regional executive committee.

Today, at about 7.00, traffic police officers stopped a 41-year-old resident of the Gomel region in a Renault Laguna at the entrance to Gomel from the M5 highway. When checking documents, the traffic police inspector had suspicions about the physical condition of the driver.

"The man immediately began to deny the fact of drinking ALCOHOL, but later admitted that he had been drinking the day before. This was also confirmed by the results of a medical examination: more than 0.3 ppm of alcohol was found in his exhaled air," the UGAI said. Administrative material was drawn up against him, the car was taken to a guarded parking lot. The offender faces a fine of 100 basic units and deprivation of the right to drive for a period of 3 years.

In total, today in the morning during intensive work on the roads of the region, law enforcement officers revealed more than 300 traffic violations, including 9 drivers detained for driving without the right to drive and 2 in a state of intoxication.
