February 1, Vitebsk. The pensioner received burns of almost 90% of his body during a fire in Liozno. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent in the Vitebsk Regional Department of Emergency Situations.

The fire occurred in one of the apartments of a three-story building on Maria Oktyabrskaya Street in the urban village of Liozno. The smoke was reported to rescuers at 9:00 pm on January 31. Units of the fire rescue unit No. 1 of the Liozno regional department for emergencies quickly went to the place.

As the rescuers said, the entrance of the house was covered in smoke, and smoke also came from the windows of the apartment on the second floor. Inside one of the rooms, a sofa and property were on fire, nearby on the floor, employees of the department found an unconscious man. The victim was taken outside and handed over to the paramedics. With burns, almost 90% of the pensioner's body was taken to a local hospital.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a pensioner born in 1949 received burns. He lived in the apartment with his son, born in 1985, who was not at home at that moment. Neighbors noted that the pensioner often consumed alcoholic beverages. As the main cause of the fire, experts consider negligence when smoking.
