ALCOHOL. The pensioner died, BELTA reports citing Tatyana Kotok, official representative of the State Forensic Expertise Committee for Brest Oblast.
The man was taken to hospital with a presumed diagnosis of "chemical poisoning." According to the patient, at home he took a few sips from a bottle of liquid, mistaking it for alcohol. Soon he felt severe
pain in his throat and stomach, but sought medical help only ten hours later, when his condition worsened. It was not possible to save the pensioner; he died in hospital a day later.
A forensic medical examination was ordered to establish the cause of death. "Experts have established that
the man's death was caused by poisoning with a substance that has a corrosive local effect. During the inspection of the place of residence, a bottle with a transparent liquid was found. As it turned out, it contained a cleaning agent for ovens and stoves," Tatyana Kotok said in detail.
