A drunken resident of Lida beat a friend with a hammer

April 7, Minsk. The Lida regional department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against a 37-year-old resident of Lida, who beat his friend with a hammer. This was reported to BelTA by the Investigative Committee.

During interrogation, the suspect told the investigator that he met the victim about two years ago in a common company. On the morning of April 2, he went to visit a 33-year-old unemployed friend and offered him a drink. The men decided to arrange a feast at the suspect's house. They drank for several hours, and when the alcohol was over, a conflict broke out between the men. The suspect hit the opponent about three times with a hammer in the abdomen and groin, causing grievous bodily harm.

Currently, the 33-year-old victim is in the hospital, he will have a long recovery after the operation. An investigative team worked at the scene. When studying the identity of the person involved, it was established that he works as a loader in one of the stores and has not been brought to criminal responsibility before.

A criminal case was initiated against a 37-year-old resident of Lida under part 1 of article 147 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
