The prosecutor's office received materials from the local police department regarding an investigation into a pensioner's request to restrict the legal capacity of her 74-year-old husband. They live together in the same apartment and run a joint household, but his addiction puts her in a difficult financial situation.

"It was established that the man had been abusing alcohol for a long time, spending his entire pension. This spring, he was being treated in the intensive care unit of the district hospital with a diagnosis of alcohol withdrawal with delirium. He was registered with the drug addiction department of the clinic, but did not see a DOCTOR and refused treatment. In May, he was brought to administrative responsibility for intentionally causing mental suffering to his wife while in a state of"He was intoxicated , under Part 2 of Article 10.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses," the regional prosecutor's office explained. He did not provide any assistance with the household chores, including paying for housing and utilities, purchasing groceries, or buying household items. While intoxicated, he behaved aggressively toward her.   The Zhitkovichi District Prosecutor filed a petition to the COURT

to declare him partially incapacitated , and the court upheld  the claim in full. The court's decision has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed or contested.
