4 people died in drunk road accidents on the roads of the capital in 11 months of last year

January 4, MINSK. In Minsk, in 11 months of last year, 4 people died in an accident with drunk drivers, 28 were injured. BelTA was informed about this by Irina Boyarchuk, senior inspector for A&P of the OGAI of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk.
"For 11 months on the roads of the capital, due to the fact that the driver of the vehicle was in a state of intoxication , 22 traffic accidents occurred in which 4 people died and 28 were injured. Only in the Oktyabrsky district of the capital, 153 facts were revealed during this period driving vehicles by drivers in a state of intoxication," the traffic police said.
From January 1 to January 10, throughout the republic, the State Traffic Inspectorate conducts a set of preventive measures "There is no place for a drunk on the road." The measures are aimed at preventing and suppressing the facts of driving vehicles by persons in a state of intoxication, preventing traffic accidents with their participation.
During this period, traffic police inspectors will strengthen control on the roads, paying special attention to identifying drunk road users. Traffic police orders will be brought closer to entertainment establishments, trade facilities, primarily working around the clock, to prevent the facts of driving vehicles by drunk drivers.
The traffic police reminds that the traffic rules strictly and unequivocally prohibit drivers from driving while intoxicated or in a state caused by the use of narcotic drugs, psychotropic, toxic and other intoxicating substances.
Today in Belarus there is a very severe responsibility for drivers who allowed themselves to drive while intoxicated. So, if the exhaled air contains from 0.3 to 0.8 ppm of ALCOHOL, the driver faces a fine of 100 basic units (Br3.2 thousand) and deprivation of the right to drive for a period of three years. If this indicator is exceeded, the fine will already amount to 200 basic units (Br6.4 thousand) with deprivation of the right to drive for 5 years. The same punishment threatens the driver in case of refusal to undergo an examination in the prescribed manner or the driver consumes alcoholic, low-alcohol drinks or beer, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances after an accident in which he is a participant,
"The traffic police urges citizens to inform the internal affairs authorities about the facts of driving vehicles by drunk drivers. If you see that a drunk driver is driving, then immediately report it by phone 102 or to the duty department of the UGAI Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee by phone 8 (017) 222- 17-17," the traffic police added.
