May 18, MINSK . On the eve of the summer school holidays from May 22 to May 31, the Belarusian Railways is holding a set of events "Children and Safety", which is aimed at preventing and preventing child injuries and deaths of minors at railway transport facilities, BelTA learned from the press center of the Belarusian Railways.

Traditionally, Belarusian Railway workers organize meetings with schoolchildren in educational institutions and children's HEALTH camps located in the immediate vicinity of the railway, and hold explanatory and preventive talks. Also, raids will be organized as part of the action, during which special attention will be paid to children and adolescents who are unattended by adults near railway tracks, at railway stations, stations and on trains. In addition, at stations and on trains, additional information will be provided to citizens about security measures when they are at railway transport facilities.

Work to prevent accidents involving minors at railway transport facilities is carried out on the Belarusian Railway on a regular basis. Despite all the measures taken, since the beginning of 2023, 34 cases of non-occupational injuries have occurred at railway transport facilities, which is 8 cases more than in the same period of 2022. 35 citizens were injured, of which 1 is a minor: 24 people died and 11 were injured. About 34% of the victims were at railway transport facilities in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication .

"The main causes of accidents continue to be the ignorance of elementary safety measures by citizens. In particular, being in a zone of increased danger while intoxicated, talking on a mobile phone and listening to music on headphones while crossing railways, violation of traffic rules by drivers when crossing railway crossings, etc.," the press center noted.
