June 2, Gomel. In Gomel, a 31-year-old man tried to hijack a rescue boat, BelTA learned from the police department of the regional executive committee.

On the evening of May 27, a worker at one of the Gomel factories was in a state of intoxication. Noticing a boat near the city rescue station OSVOD, the man jumped into the ship, started the engine and began to untie himself from the pier.

The sound of a running engine was heard by the rescuer. Seeing him, the townspeople tried to run away. However, he was detained. Employees of the traffic police and the police patrol service of the Central District Department of Internal Affairs took the man to a specialized isolation ward for sobering up. After a while, he explained his act by the desire to ride a boat.

Investigators opened a criminal case against the Gomel resident for attempted hijacking of a small vessel.

As clarified in the Department of Internal Affairs, this year the detainee has already been brought to administrative responsibility - for violating anti-alcohol laws and traffic rules.
