April 9, Minsk . The Frunzensky District Department of the Investigative Committee of Minsk has established the circumstances of cruel treatment of domestic animals, BELTA learned from the Investigative Committee.

According to the criminal case materials, in October last year, a 34-year-old Minsk resident was left in charge of caring for the pets while his common-law wife was away. The woman was caring for four cats, including some with physical problems. While the resident of the capital was in the hospital, the man began to lead a dissolute lifestyle. During another drinking session with his friend, the Sphynx and Oriental cats tried to attract the owner's attention, as they were hungry. The Minsk resident strangled the first animal with a belt, hanging it on a pipe, and then threw it out of a fifth-floor window. He slammed the second pet against the wall and disposed of the body in the same way. And the next day, the Minsk resident left their bodies in the nearest park area near the house. Concerned citizens who were holding a clean-up day in the capital's district discovered the mutilated bodies of cats. The Minsk resident was detained by police officers.

When clarifying the circumstances of the incident, it turned out that these were not all the crimes committed by the Minsk resident. According to the investigation, in January of this year, the man was constantly looking for money to buy alcohol. On one of those days, he agreed with his friend to exchange car parts for an insignificant amount. During a personal meeting with his friend, the resident of the capital noticed that the vestibule that led to his friend's apartment did not close and anyone could easily get into the hallway. A few days later, he entered the vestibule and stole car accessories, as well as various equipment of his friend for more than Br900. He quickly sold the stolen goods and spent the proceeds onalcohol .

Based on the investigation results, the Minsk resident was charged under Part 1 of Article 339-1 (cruelty to animals) and Part 2 of Article 205 (repeated theft) of the Criminal Code. He was remanded in custody.
