Site foreman at Minsk Kristall sentenced to 4 years in prison for negligence

October 28, MINSK. The COURT of the Leninsky district of Minsk has passed a sentence on the foreman of the site at the Minsk Crystal OJSC in a criminal case of negligence, BelTA informs citing the press service of the Minsk City Court.

The events considered in the court took place on April 10-11, 2020. The accused then worked as a foreman of the bottling section of alcoholic products and was an official. He had to constantly monitor the condition of pipelines and their elements, however, before the start of the work shift, he did not check and did not make sure that the bottling of the product - semi-finished cognac - was actually completed. Nevertheless, he made an entry in the shift log about the absence of comments, which allegedly testified to a visual inspection of the tanks, fittings and pipelines in the workshop.

Since the taps were in the "open" position, the product entered the pipeline and flowed into the sewer. This led to the leakage of at least 1,622.13 liters of semi-finished cognac. The damage to the enterprise was estimated at more than Br34 thousand.

The court found the accused guilty of improper performance of official duties due to dishonest and negligent attitude to the service, which negligently entailed other grave consequences. He was sentenced to 4 years of restriction of freedom without being sent to an open correctional institution, and also deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative and administrative duties for a period of 3 years. In addition, the defendant must pay the damage caused by the crime.

The verdict of the court has not entered into force and can be appealed and protested in the manner prescribed by law.
