In early October last year, in the village of Khoromsk in the Stolin District, a Brestenergo employee discovered the body of a Pinsk native who had recently returned from serving a sentence for robbery in a home during a routine house-to-house inspection. An investigative team was dispatched to the scene. An examination revealed that the death was clearly violent: a penetrating wound was found on the victim's body. The murder weapon had disappeared without a trace. The only trace found was a barely visible shoe print on the floor.
Neighbors of the deceased knew almost nothing about him. According to them, the Pinsk resident had recently purchased a house in their village and had no connections. Continuing to pursue possible connections, investigators questioned the former owner of the house. His testimony aroused suspicion: he claimed to have been home on the day of the murder. However, the investigators' available information suggested otherwise. Further investigation revealed that the man had visited the Pinsk resident with a friend the day before the tragedy. After conducting investigative measures, police discovered that it was the acquaintance of the former owner of the house who committed the murder. He turned out to be a 49-year-old local resident.

Afterward, the friends left the premises, taking the knife with them and then throwing it away.
During questioning, the former owner of the house said he had not asked his acquaintance to kill him. The accused himself confirmed this, saying he grabbed the knife against the backdrop ofALCOHOL intoxication . However, he was unable to clearly explain why he committed the murder. A verification of testimony at the scene involving the suspect helped identify the murder weapon. Furthermore, during an inspection of his home, shoes were seized. After examination, it was determined that their footprints were left at the murder scene. The deceased's blood was also found on the soles.
Following the investigation, the 49-year-old man was charged under Part 1 of Article 139 (murder) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus .
