MINSK . The number of fires in Belarus increased from January to October, BELTA reports, citing data from the Prosecutor General's Office.
Thus, in the first 10 months of 2025, 5,406 fires occurred in the country, while in the first 10 months of
2024 , there were 5,099. The largest number of fires was registered in the Minsk region - 1,261.
The number of people killed and injured in fires increased: 428 people died (22 people more than in the same period last year), 501 people were injured (45 people more). More than half of the dead were in a state
281 people died
from ALCOHOL intoxication
. Rural fires have become more frequent, with 3,269 fires occurring in total.
The causes of fires remain the same: careless handling of fire, violation of stove installation and operation rules, failure to comply with electrical equipment operating rules, and children playing pranks.
