West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey has been put on a diet and publicly weighed every month - this initiative was put forward by US Secretary of HEALTH and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr., The New York Post reports.

On Friday, March 29, he held a joint event with Morrisey, during which he pointed out the governor's excess weight.

"The first time I saw him, I said, 'You look like you ate Governor Morrissey,'" Kennedy Jr. said. "I'm going to put him on a very strict diet, and we're going to put him on a carnivore diet."

The minister suggested that Morrissey hold public weigh-ins every month and added that he would return to the state when the governor had lost 13 kg.

Kennedy Jr. visited the state as part of a campaign called "Make America Healthy Again." As a result of the event, the secretary and the governor announced a ban on certain food colorings and also filed an application to exclude soda from the subsidized program.

West Virginia, as of 2023, is one of only three states with an obesity rate of 40% or more among the population. Arkansas had an obesity rate of 40%, Mississippi had an obesity rate of 40.1%, and West Virginia had an obesity rate of 41.2%.

According to the Ministry of Health, 24.6% of citizens in RUSSIA suffer from obesity; at the age of 7–11, obesity is observed in a third.
