December 29, Minsk. How security will be organized in the places of New Year's festivities, said today at a press conference in the Minsk City Executive Committee the head of the law enforcement and prevention department of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate Sergei Gorokhov, BelTA has learned.

When holding festive events in Minsk on New Year's Eve, the sale of alcohol on tap was agreed, but it will be stopped at 3 am. At the same time, the police will control the presence in places of festivities of people in a state of extreme intoxication.

Particular attention will be paid to ensuring security and law and order in large open areas where more than 500 participants are expected. "We examine all these places with the help of special calculations in order to prevent the placement of any dangerous items," Sergei Gorokhov said.

Entrance to the main sites will be through checkpoints. There are separate entrances and checkpoints for the disabled, veterans and parents with small children. Access to the site near the Sports Palace will be organized from Pobediteley Ave. and Melnikayte St. Luggage lockers will also be installed here so that you can leave some items that are not allowed in the places of festivities. It will be impossible to pass through such checkpoints with any means of transportation (such as bicycles and electric scooters), as well as with pets.

"In places with a massive stay of people, near public catering facilities, the number of patrol squads will be increased from December 31. In general, during the holidays, the police are traditionally transferred to an enhanced version of their service," Sergei Gorokhov said.

The head of the department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Sergei Babich, added that the traffic police also switched to an enhanced version of service. Inspectors will pay special attention to preventing violations of traffic rules while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as observing the rules for stopping / parking near the venues of events. During the celebrations, traffic will be closed only along Engels St. and Nezavisimosti Ave. to Internatsionalnaya St. But the traffic police are ready to limit the flow of traffic if necessary.
