Inflation in Poland was 13.9%, reaching the highest level since 1998

May 31, MINSK. Annual inflation in Poland in May amounted to 13.9%. This is the highest figure since 1998, according to the information portal of the Polish radio RMF 24.

According to the Central Statistical Office of Poland, prices increased by 1.7% in May compared to April.

On an annualized basis, the cost of automobile fuel has noticeably risen - by 35.4%. Energy prices rose by 31.4%. The cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages in Poland rose by 13.5%.

Polish economist Witold Orlowski predicts that inflation of 15-20% should be expected in the coming weeks. At the same time, food prices will rise most significantly.

According to the expert, it is not worth expecting an improvement in the situation in Poland over the next months: inflation will most likely return to normal levels only at the end of 2023.
