Grodno forensic experts found marijuana in tea imported to Belarus

At the Kamenny Log checkpoint, during a customs inspection of a vehicle traveling under the control of a Lithuanian citizen to Belarus , customs officers discovered tea, which raised suspicion about the legality of its movement.

The packages were seized and sent to the department of the State Forensic Examination Committee for the Grodno region to conduct a forensic examination of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors, and potent substances.

Forensic experts found that the mixtures submitted for examination contained parts of marijuana.

Grodno regional customs is conducting an inspection.

In a number of European countries, the sale of tea, chocolate, ALCOHOL and other products that contain parts of plants of the genus Hemp (Cannabis) is officially permitted, but the import of such goods is prohibited into the customs territory of the EAEU .

Criminal liability is provided for the illegal movement of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues and precursors across the border.
