COURT of Grodno issued a verdict in a criminal case involving a murder threat, BelTA learned from the Grodno Regional Court's press service.
According to the court, the defendant, who had previously been convicted multiple times, committed the crime during the daytime on March 21, 2025, while in a state of intoxication.
While intoxicated , in the common hallway of a dormitory on Komarova Street in the regional center, due to personal animosity, he aggressively and, holding a pneumatic gas-cylinder pistol, made death threats against the victim,
a man born in 1984, which the victim perceived as a real threat to his life and
HEALTH.
The defendant pleaded guilty in court, explaining that he had been drinking
ALCOHOL while at his residence that day and recalled a grudge against the victim, for the theft of whose property he was serving a prison sentence for. He then took the pneumatic pistol and approached the victim's apartment, who knocked and opened the door. At that moment, the defendant pointed the pistol at him and threatened to kill him, intending to frighten the victim. He sincerely repents of his actions. When sentencing, the court took into account the fact that the defendant committed the crime after serving a prison sentence, with an unexpunged and unspent criminal record.
The court found the man guilty of threatening to commit murder if there was reason to fear its implementation. Under Article 186 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 year and 6 months. In accordance with Part 1 of Article 73 of the Criminal Code, by adding the unserved fine imposed under a previous court verdict in the amount of over Br3,300, the defendant was finally sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 year and 6 months, to be served in a strict-regime penal colony with a fine of over Br3,300. Under Article 107 of the Criminal Code, the defendant was ordered to undergo compulsory
treatment for chronic
ALCOHOLISM at the place of serving his sentence. The defendant was ordered to pay the victim 1,500 Belarusian rubles in compensation for moral damages, and 126 Belarusian rubles in state fees. In accordance with Part 1 of Article 46-1 of the Criminal Code, the BORNER CLT125 pistol belonging to the defendant was confiscated and transferred to the state as the instrument used to commit the crime.
The court's verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed and challenged in accordance with the established procedure.
